Here at Your Table - Bread of Life

Link to the song here.

As an assignment of my Music Theory II class, we took an unknown hymn and rewrote the melody and parts, making a new SATB (4 voice) arrangement. God in his immense wisdom and sense of humor decided to open my curiosity and see how this would sound with a contemporary arrangement. Having my dear church Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, in mind I decided to play with it and see if it would fit our worship service and maybe one day eventually use it.

This 19th century text, written by May Pierpont Hoyt, speaks for itself! For the rest, all I can say is that this is an answered prayer. Thank you, Lord, for giving beautiful creativity and sparks of light to my weak and dirty hands and prideful heart. Thank you for letting us use music to worship and glorify you despite the fact that we have used music before to worship ourselves!

Here is the text for this precious hymn, with some added text for the hook.

Here at Your table, Lord, this sacred hour,
O let us feel You near, in loving power,
Calling our thoughts away from self and sin
As to Your banquet hall we enter in.

Come then, O Holy Christ, feed us, we pray;
Touch with Your pierced hand each common day;
Making this earthly life full of Your grace,
Till in the home of heaven we find our place.

So shall our life of faith be full, be sweet;
And we shall find our strength for each day meet;
Fed by Your living bread, all hunger past,
We shall be satisfied, and saved at last.

Come, Living God,
King of all Kings,
Merciful Savior,
Holy One.

Come, Lamb of God,
Promise of grace,
Come to Your table,
Bread of life.

In The Blink Of An Eye

This is a song that has fueled me today! Without doubt in the blink of an eye this worldly kingdom will pass and what will happen then? Did we live the great life we were called for? Where was our time spent?

We know God's Kingdom doesn't depend on men, but at the end of our lives... what kingdom did we take better care of... ours or His?

In The Blink Of An Eye - Mercy Me

You put me here for a reason
You have a mission for me
You knew my name and You called it
Long before I learned to breathe

Sometimes I feel disappointed
By the way I spend my time
How can I further Your kingdom
When I'm so wrapped up in mine

In a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given
There's a reason I'm alive for a blink of an eye

And though I'm living a good life
Can my life be something great?
I have to answer the question
Before it's too late

If I give the very best of me
That becomes my legacy
So tell me what am I waiting for?
What am I waiting for?

In a Blink of an eye that is when
I'll be closer to You than I've ever been
Time will fly, but until then
I'll embrace every moment I'm given
There's a reason I'm alive for a blink of an eye

Because of Your Will

The theme of God's will in my life is nothing new. I have been struggling at many levels with this and through many ways God has been answering my questions and guiding me into knowing more and more how his work is done in me. As a result of knowing that His will is pleasing, perfect and good I believe our response should be a gleeful humbleness and a passion to follow his steps... be glad to be in his plans and actively seek to be used by Him, not because of us, but because He in His mercy has decided to make us participate in His wonders... so...

Here I stand,
With my arms held high,
In your perfect love
Your will be done

Hold me fast,
I won’t if I try
Lord you take control
Lead my way home

Through your eyes I walk by faith, there is no fear
Your mercy flows, your will reveals

Because of your will
I will follow in your footsteps
I will head into the storm
I will sing about your gracious love
Your will be done

I will rejoice in my revival
I will praise your name on high
I will tell the world that you’re alive
Your alive!

Here I go
Lord I’m not afraid
Your word leads my way
Your will be done

Hold me fast
I won’t if I try
Lord you take control
Lead my way home

Deliverer may your will bind me
When I walk with you, my Lord Almighty
I won’t be shaken, you’ll stand before me
